The DogWatch SmartFence® ensures you're informed with tailored notifications, including SmartCollar® battery alerts, boundary wire breaks, power loss, system connectivity, and boundary challenge alerts. Activity Tracking

The SmartFence receiver is a full feature receiver with a 1 year battery life and all the safety features of our award-winning R9 receiver plus the SmartFence connectivity features that alert you when the battery is low and let you track your pet’s activity . . . wherever you are.
1-Year Battery Life
The SmartFence receiver has an outstanding one year battery life. Compare the SmartFence battery life to only 3-4 months in other brands. Fewer battery changes = greater safety for your pet and less expense for you (and better for the environment).
User Programmable
DogWatch receivers have multiple settings for different pet personalities and can be set individually for each pet. The settings are easy to understand and easy to adjust – no service call required.
Status Light
In addition to the low-battery notification you will receive via text and/or email from your SmartFence, there is also a multi-function status light on the receiver that indicates when the battery is low or needs to be replaced. It also shows you if your pet has recently challenged the boundary (the “Tattletale” feature).

AutoMemory®

The SmartFence receiver includes an audible warning to alert your pet that he is approaching the fence boundary. Through our PetFriendly™ training program, your pet learns to retreat from the boundary area when he hears the alert.

Range Setting and Loop Monitor
This dual function display allows you to set the width of the signal field to best meet the personalities of your pet(s): The lights on the display are an easy way to see the signal field setting and they are also a visual alert if there is a change in the strength of the boundary signal or to a break in the boundary wire. If there is an wire break, there is also an warning alarm that alerts you to check the system. This is an invaluable safety feature for underground fences.
Lightning Protection
Your DogWatch pet fence is protected should your home experience an electrical surge due to lightning. We’ve gone to extremes, like no one else, to equip your DogWatch Hidden Fence with both internal and external surge protection. External Surge Protection directs power surges and lightning from the boundary wire to the ground rod into the earth and away from your home. Internal Surge Protection suppresses surges coming in through your house wiring and diverts them to your house ground.

Frequently Asked Questions
What will happen to my SmartFence if my Internet isn’t working?
The Hidden Fence (the containment part of the fence) is not dependent on the Internet and will work as it should even if your Internet is turned ‘off’ or not working. If your Internet is turned ‘off’ or not working, you will not receive notification alerts, system settings and activity tracking until your Internet connection is restored.
What happens when my dog’s SmartCollar travels out of range of the Communication Portal?
The SmartCollar is designed with the understanding that your pet will probably spend time in parts of the yard that may be beyond the transmission range of your SmartFence Communication Portal. That’s OK!
What if I do not have an extra Ethernet port on my router?
The SmartFence requires the use of an Ethernet port. You may be able to add ports to your router by connecting it to an Ethernet switch. These devices should be available at stores such as Staples® or Best Buy®.
Can I use a SmartFence if I do not have Internet?
You can use the Hidden Fence (the containment part of the fence) without the Internet. The communication part of the system (notification alerts, system settings and activity tracking) will not work without an Internet connection.
Can I use a SmartFence if I do not have a smartphone?
Yes, you can still get text message and/or email alerts and you can access your SmartFence WebApp profile from any computer or other Internet enabled device.
Is the SmartFence WebApp available on both iPhone and Android devices?
Yes, the SmartFence WebApp works on both iPhone and Android devices. The WebApp is not an “App” that you download in the App Store or Play Store. Instead, it is a progressive web app, accessible via any internet browser (Safari, Chrome, etc.). The WebApp can be saved to the home screen of your mobile device for easy access.
